Computer Science, University of Delaware There are a lot of CIS PhD student don't have funding in first year... only a few professors can provide RA in CIS. And it is hard for self-funding students apply for TA after they come to UD. Because instead of giving TA to old self-funding students, UD prefer to give TA to new students who have higher TOEFL scores. So! Please be careful if want to accept doctor admission by self-funding.

Computer Science, University Of Oxford Hi, I did my interview on 11st for 30mins all technical I say: explaining my projects and the project I want to do in Oxford group My advisor-to-be told me the result will be on early March. Nevertheless, I am wasting my time and focus on this site to check early rejects or informal offers :) I am desperate on this position Please share your early signs ;)

Computer Science, Massachusetts Institute Of Technology (MIT) TTPB, you are right about internal contacts. I know people from my country not US, getting straight PhD admits with 0 papers at top schools. The person's recommendations are from three profs two of them PhD from MIT and 1 from Stanford. And he got into only Stanford and MIT in top 4 and not into Cornell Berkeley and CMU. Sometimes you can only do so much. He applied to only 5 schools.
