Computer Science, University Of Massachusetts, Amherst TTPB: I can also navigate to the page with the letter by clicking Main Menu -> Admissions -> Student Center - New Grad. There is the "NAME Graduate Student Center" page with five sections: Welcome ("Congratulations on your admission to the University of Massachusetts Amherst!"), Confirmation Status (and here's the link to the letter), Graduate Student Employment, Financial Aid, and Contact Information. And on the right side of the page, there is a small box "Search for Classes" and under it another section "Grad Student Resources" with the link to "Check Status of Application Materials." I am pretty sure I just had the "Grad Student Resources" section (with the link to check application status) on this page last time I logged on to spire.

Computer Science, Carnegie Mellon University Folks - let's be honest to ourselves. The acceptance rate of tier-1 MS programs like MSCS and MSML are around 6% - 8%, and will likely be lower this year due to the increase of applicants. I'd say at least 30% of the applicants think they can get in, but we need to ask ourselves - are we really the top 6%?

Computer Science, University Of Massachusetts, Amherst TTBP: I'm the same person that just asked that. I am having trouble understanding. I forgot to mention I am a UMass undergrad so my spire may have more than most people. I click on Main Menu > Admissions > Graduate Applicant Center. On that page, I see a section " Grad Student Resources" and under that one of the options is "Check Status of Application Materials" Where in this navigation should I look? I would greatly appreciate more details!

Computer Science, University Of Massachusetts, Amherst randomly checked spire and saw the letter. haven't gotten any emails about status update. so happy :) the application status is still "update pending," but the letter and other stuff are already available.

Computer Science, University Of Manitoba Already have a master's in information technology, applied for HCI to settle as a UX designer in the career. Thought second masters would not hurt if it is worth bringing my favorite career stream to my table.

Computer Science, Carnegie Mellon University TTPB: I am the one who started this discussion (about not blaming the defferals). To be perfectly clear I have no connections in CMU, I know nobody in the department I applied to, I have not had contact with anyone related to my specific field. CMU has a ton of CS graduate programs and I spoke to people I am familiar with in totally unrelated programs. This isn't because your lack of connections nor defferals. Graduate admissions are a crapshoot, I got accepted to CMU.. but rejected to a totally inferior school. Stop acting like the world owes you something, and given the admissions that you mentioned you should be in cloud nine. Very few get into every school they apply to, that does not mean that the schools that reject you are rigged against you.

Computer Science, Carnegie Mellon University Applied for the MIIS program on the November 19th deadline. Got a reject today via e-mail at 3 AM IST. 1 paper submitted to an international conference which was rejected and work-ex of almost 2 years at a top MNC. Average GPA and GRE. Does anyone know why the decisions for rejects came in so late?

Computer Science, Carnegie Mellon University Stop blaming deferrals for not getting accepted. I have spoken to people at CMU and in the departments I checked, the deferrals were minimal.. and they added spaces to make the impact minimal. CMU is on par with Stanford and MIT when it comes to cs so it is highly selective. Almost none are that good that they have a 100% shot with CMU, and sorry to say it, you are most likely not one of them. Stay humble and recognize that you just did not get in, don't spoil it for others, and don't blame the school for the fact that you didn't get into one of the best CS graduate programs on the planet

Computer Science, Carnegie Mellon University MIIS reject. Why didn't they tell us of the effect of deferrals, No GRE has been a way of looting money like hell & playing with candidate's feelings, same happening with every university, bloody cash cows, expecting the same thing from MCDS results.
