Computer Science, University Of Massachusetts, Amherst TTPB: UMass didn't allow deferrals to Fall 2021 for Fall 2020 admits. They only allowed deferrals to Spring 2021 with a deposit. I got an admit for the MS program (applied for MS/PhD) for Fall 2020 but had to decline due to this.

Computer Science, University Of Massachusetts, Amherst TTPB: UMass did not give deferals. Stop spreading anxiety. "Please refer to the recent email entitled, "Updates on Fall Planning 2020." You may defer for one semester (Fall 2020) only. However, if you are unable to come to campus in January 2021 or decline to enroll remotely, you will need to reapply for fall 2021. Please carefully read the details of the email. The deadline to submit a request for a deferral is July 31, 2020."

Computer Science, Carnegie Mellon University I agree with the below post that they should have mention the deferrals. If they have a few seats, applicants should have known it because we spend money for these applications. UC Berkeley and UW also did the same thing, they didn't mention about the deferrals and now majority of the applications got rejection. I hope this will not be the case for CMU.

Computer Science, Carnegie Mellon University TTPB : Thanks! I did not know there were many deferals for ML. Thanks for the heads up. The website of the department had no explicit mention about it. Just saying, they should have mentioned these many deferals are already given to these many students....

Computer Science, Carnegie Mellon University CMU undergrad here. MSML results will be out in a couple of days, but don't expect much due to deferrals, especially for international students - told by my advisor. Stay strong and apply next year!

Computer Science, Carnegie Mellon University TTPB: I dont think MCDS results are out. Since other programs have started announcing decisions, we can expect MCDS too to be announced sometime soon? Also, does anyone have an idea of the average intake for this program and the number of people who enrolled in Fall 2020?
