Recent Graduate Admission Results March 2021
Computer Science, University Of Waterloo An international student at a west Canadian university. Applied MMath thesis option, and interviewed by the POI twice. The first is the behaviour interview, which lasts for an hour (basically the POI talked for 45 mins and I talked for 15 mins...). The second is a technical interview; I present the papers that I co-authored, and the POI asked a bunch of problems, which last for three hours... and was told (and emailed) by the POI that he will accept me. The official offer will take one week to be available. I will accept the offer since the POI and UWaterloo are my top choice! Also admitted by a Ph.D. program in the states, but I am worried about the strict and unclear immigration policy, so I would rather not risk it, thus will decline.

Computer Science, University of Southern California Top 10 US CS undergrad, good GRE/GPA, good work exp, minimal research exp. I thought USC would be an easy admit given my profile but seems I was wrong. Also was rejected from another safety UChicago so this is really strange. I do have an admit from Cornell though so not too shaken up, I'll take Cornell over USC/Uchicago any day...

Computer Science, Columbia University Does anyone know if Columbia has decided to invite graduate engineering students to live on campus yet? The last time we had an information session, they announced that things were still unclear, and I can't seem to find a timeline on their website to make a decision.

Computer Science, Carnegie Mellon University BS in EECS w/ honors from top 5 US school. GRE 170Q/167V/5.5W. 6 years exp as a software engineer, 2 years in relevant research area (computer vision). No pubs or LORs from academia probably the main reason for rejection. Dang! All rejects so far this year. Congrats everyone who got in.
