Recent Graduate Admission Results March 2021
Computer Science, University Of Texas At Austin Didn't get an official rejection but saw all the accepts on the forum. Super bumped. I have 2 papers at Tier A NLP conferences (EMNLP, ACL), LORs from senior researchers in the fields, but still, I have got 3/3 rejections. Others being CMU and UIUC.

Computer Science, Stanford University 1 published paper in top ML conference. Strong academics/GRE. Strong LOR all from industry contacts (~7 years work experience). I think what helped the most, however, was an unusual SOP. My background is doing software in public sector/nonprofit. Long-term goal is to improve government. Lots of extracurrics that show this (i.e. serving on city committees). My SOP about my public sector goals may have been unusual compared to most applicants.

Computer Science, Cornell University Really thought I was a good fit. Being from Latin America is such a big hurdle. People with access to the research world during their undergrad don't know how good they have it.

Computer Science, Northeastern University Got rejected from my safe school. Tier-1 Indian University, 8.49 CGPA, 3 years of work experience, Strong LoRs, no publications. Doesn't seem like any admits coming my way now.
