  • To the poster below for MSc Econ for Development. Did you actually receive a rejection for the Development Econ course or did you missclick and it was for the Mphil Econ?? (Seeing as there seem to be a lot of MPhil Econ rejections today, and Msc Econ for Dev is a completely different department) Clarfification would be amazin. Thank you, and I hope you secured other offers!

  • Economics major with a minor in politics. I think I had competitive academic credentials, strong LORs, and relevant work experience, but my research proposal/statement of interest was very rushed and there were some gaps in it, which is likely what sunk my application. I also applied to another program in the same department (to which I was also rejected) with a different research topic, so I am not sure if that had any impact on my chances for this one. For future applicants, if you have high stats, don't think you'll get in easily with grades alone. At the same time, for those with borderline grades, it seems that a strong research proposal could make up for it. So take your time with your application and have someone look over it before submitting it. Best of luck!

Application has been passed to the Funding panel (no further information). From the Admissions Office (email 5th March): "Decisions are usually communicated after 8-10 weeks (16th-30th March), but we are doing our best to communicate to all applicants as soon as possible. Offer letters are likely to be sent in a week or so."

  • Didn't get in despite having a solid first and relevant work experience- think having a lack of a fully formed dissertation proposal (despite this being a taught masters) let me down, as others seemed to have gone into depth about it in their PS where I did not!
