Environment And Sustainability, University Of California, Los Angeles Similar situation to the poster below. Talked to two faculty and clicked with them very well. Had matching interests with the two and the main PI even vouched to say some good words to the AdCom. Had my hopes up but now it was all for nothing. Not really sad because the program really is quite sketchy--one faculty outright told me to apply to Ag Econ departments instead of going there, and the other said that the department was extremely cash-strapped and had a strict quota on international admits. Really wonder what UCLA's plans are for this department.

Public Policy, Harvard University A bit disappointed. 5 years RA in dev econ, 2 publications. Average grades in undergrad in econ, top in master in philosophy. Strong LORs 3 from public policy academics from my country and 1 from top US econ dept.

Economics, Memorial University Of Newfoundland Memorial University aka Canadian Cemetery uni.. offered me to chase after their diploma in economics, after I have earned master's in economics from the United States institution. Admission is begging for $120 application fee badly and reverts with their shameless (econ) department's head email.. I trolled their econ department that I will re-apply for the Memorial's econ diploma, once I get my PhD in related field :D
