Communicated with a prof. Beforehand. Have a first author submission to MNRAS. Disappointed about this

TTPB: Did the acceptance mail say anything about the acceptance rates this year, as one of the posters below claimed?

Generic email, 216 applicants which was 50% more than last year. I don't have any publications, but did some research in undergrad. Strong statement and LORs, Took a year detour into an education masters than dropped out because life is weird. Good luck all

TTPB: When and how did you guys receive the notification for the decision? To the person accepted, were you interviewed? I'm an applicant and still haven't heard anything.

TTPB thank you for answering my question patiently! congrats to you again, and Its good to know based on your admits that one should hope to hear within this week incase they do get in, otherwise know that it's time to move on.

High GPA, no GRE, 4 middle author and 1 first author pub in mid-tier journals. Almost 3 years full time lab experience post grad.

Received an email with an acceptance offer and funding. Interested in working at intersection of theory/experiment for condensed matter and quantum information processing. No interview

Had an interview with faculty three weeks ago.

TTPB, my POIs did not mention anything regarding decisions from other schools when we interviewed, sorry! And I was told that the graduate school is in the process of working through the first round of Information Studies PhDs admissions at the moment. Im not sure if I was told early, I assume this is the week POIs are reaching out. Best of luck!

TTPB, thank you so much for responding. I just wondered if that led to early communication of decisions. But wouldn't change anything in terms of decisions at all :)

TTPB: Interesting! I was not notified in any conversation with POIs to report on decisions from elsewhere, and have not shared other acceptances with POIs at Maryland. I'm wondering why that would be a determining factor?
