Graduate School Admission Results

To the poster below who received PHD Computer Science admission. Can you please mention your under grad GPA, master GPA, under grad and grad master schools, your GRE and toefl score?

To the below the email receiving post, I received that email, too. I guess that means applications just passed through departmental review, and the graduate committee's final decision is left. Who knows? I saw many posts here that DMSE of UCSD is very small and their funding support is very limited. BTW, the email said that 'decision will be reported within 3 weeks.' It is so brutal....

Campus visit on March 12-13th.

Got an email stating she was following up a phone call but am currently traveling so do not have phone service.

They also posted an official rejection letter on the website, ouch okay okay I understand :( !

Had a very positive phone interview Friday (02/10), official notification today. Really like the POI and their research, very excited for the opportunity.

Low GRE and mediocre ugrad GPA, high grad GPA (MS). Extensive research experience. Kind of expected, but still a little disappointing.

Rejected but given offer to enter Masters program with no funding and no guarantee to advance to PhD. Also comes with the stipulation that you can only enter the program without a comparable Masters degree, which I would have, so the email seems exrtemely impersonal.

Interview with POI.

To the poster asking my UCSD info; I got the email two hours ago. Informed by the POI beforehand (in the morning). My verbal was 148 and quant was 170. Analytical writing 3.0 (the exam subjects were terrible even I couldn't find sth to write about in my own native language) but my TOEFL writing was 29.

To the UCSD poster below, congratulations! When did you have the interview?

I received this email- "This email is to inform you that the Materials Science and Engineering program at UCSD has recommended you for admission to the Materials Science PhD program. Please note that your file will now be passed to UCSD Graduate Admissions, who will determine whether you can officially be admitted to UCSD, based on all documentation. The final decision of whether a student can be admitted is decided by UCSD Graduate Admissions. You should receive a decision from UCSD Graduate Admissions within 3 weeks via email. " What does it mean?? Anybody else got this too??

Same package as the person a few lines below except in the International Relations sub-field. Yay!
