Email to check the portal, where I found a standard rejection letter. MSc from top uni in Europe with a good GPA, first-author publication at a top-tier venue, research internship experience, and SWE internship at a renowned tech company. Found out after applying that POI wasn't hiring this year, and I had no interview, so the rejection was expected

A piece of advice: Do NOT apply to Berkeley's MSCS unless you are dead certain that your portfolio stands out one in thousands. MS/PhD program usually has a much higher acceptance rate than MS only.

Graduating from an American college. 2 research opportunities. First one in computational physics (Paper in progress) and the second in machine learning (current). One internship as an app developer. Strong LOR's. No GRE. Hurts to start the season like this, certainly wasn't expecting. Was I missing something in my application? Or only people with actual work experience get in here?

Had an interview with the professor in early January.

University of Waterloo grad, no conference papers, one undergraduate research experience in an unrelated domain of computer science, many internships. Rough cumulative GPA due to a couple of terms where I really struggled with completing schoolwork, due to external sources. Not very surprised at the result. Honestly, if anybody has any advice for how I can turn my chances next time I apply, despite not being able to change my GPA, I'd love to hear it in the comments.
