Sociology, New York University Now i understand why folks emphasize the ‘fit’. I was rejected by schools that i knew were a bad fit, and admitted to those that i knew were a good fit (one or more profs in the same subdiscipline). Nyu was one of the good fits.

Spanish, Berkeley College-New York To the person asking about Berkeley-- I was contacted the 1st week of January for an interview. I interviewed via skype on the 19th, and I received a very nice note yesterday, explaining that I was a top candidate but that they could only accept 4 people this year.

Neuroscience - CNS (Center For Neural Science), New York University Generic email saying the application pool was strong. Upset but not unexpected given my GPA. Low GPA but a ton of research experience. 2.5 years of post-bacc research. 3 second-author pubs, 1 first-author in revision, 2 second-author in revision - all mid-tier journals (impact factor 5-10).
