Why they took 4 fu*king months to simply reject ??? Waste of money, waste of mental energy, waste of time. This admission cycle is going terribly wrong. Don't know what happened to physics department this year, lack of funding or what ????? F*ck you.....

I was waitlisted initially, then received a rejection (hep-th/ph). I was a bit hopeful, but anyway, best of luck to all who made it.

Physics & mathematics double major with 5 years of continuous research experience (starting 1 year prior to entering college), two REUs, one non-REU summer research program, one summer school in high-energy theory, and one summer school in mathematics (participated in two programs over some summers). One first-author publication, another in writing, and one poster presentation at an undergraduate research symposium. Three years as a teaching assistant for introductory physics courses, and one semester as a teaching assistant for vector calculus. Wrote and/or significantly contributed to a few pieces of open-source software widely used in the field. Rejected by all 20 schools I applied to this year, and finding it incredibly hard to get a job with a physics/math degree.

4.0 Master's. 2.5 years research experience. AMO.

Is there anybody who accepted an offer from UCSB Physics? I want to know if you guys were given financial awards in addition to the stipend package.

subfield: hep-ph. 4.0 undergrad GPA, now doing a master's at a top (or more confidently, best) EU program for theoretical physics, 5 research, 1 pub. Thought NYU was my safe choice lol. Already committed to a better offer, now don't bother to reject this one. This year's application is getting unbelievably tough. The suggestion for 25 applicants is to apply as much as you can
