Anyone received an interview/hear from them?

Master's in analytics GPA 3.718. >2 years work experience in data science. Had previous, ongoing contact with the professor.

No funding yet.. does this mean waitlist for funding? any info if they actually do offer funding when a spot opens up?

Congrats to the people who were accepted! I am on the waitlist... They said not to be discouraged but....haha. I appreciate them for getting back to me the fastest out of every program.

TTPB: Is it fair to assume that if you haven't received any such e-mail, there is no chance of admission?

Hi TTPB, I think it was very informally said, also this was more in my favor that in case I did get in elsewhere before I hear from them, and had to make a decision, couldn't wait, I could let them know to hear earlier from them. They necessarily weren't interested in learning whether I got in elsewhere to make their decision. Sorry I wasn't clear with the language earlier

"you are under active consideration". Page-long letter that says they want to offer me but the pandemic has "made uncertain their future funding avenues" and they "anticipate making many more offers over the next ~5 weeks" So kinda like an unusual wait-list letter I suppose. Obligatory: Hep-ex, 3.8, renowned recommender.

Decent GPA, No publications, 3 years of research experience and No GRE

CM-exp. No prior interview. TTPB: "There were over 800 applicants this year... for about 25 spots in our entering class."

Indian student, 3.74/4.00 UG GPA, 3 summer research projects (one in astronomy). No publications. Couple of months of TA experience.

Got an invitation for interview today from DGS :)

TTPB: Some committees will recommend that an applicant gets rejected or waitlisted if they think that you will not accept the offer. It streamlines the process on their end (or so I have heard). Also, astro people all know each other, so it wouldn't surprise me if committees talk across schools and coordinate acceptances. (again, this is all hearsay don't take it for Gospel).
