This was the first program I applied to and It was an accident (rough draft of my SOP was submitted, etc.). Oh well. Also, the email was terribly informal. Sent by the Dean of the graduate school (why not the department...?) Here's my summary: 0a/0w/3r (PSU, Yale, brown)/3itv/13p, from a school ranked ~200 in the USA, Math/Econ major stats minor, 3.81 gpa, 2.5 yrs of research (1 yr in an NSF funded program, 2.5 in McNair Scholars, 8wks at prestigious school for summer REU); research in complex numbers, statistics (KDE and QReg), and computational financial math (at summer REU), only 3 years of university (took AP/DC courses in HS), 1 paper near publication, at least 3 decent letters of recommendation (2 McNair advisers (1 being a prof. I had in 3 classes Summer REU), I was homeless in HS which inspires what I want to study, and I have an internship in Act.Sci/Pred.Analyt. at a good company for SUM'18, president of 2 clubs, treasurer of one, Vice Prez of a political org. (raised $5,000 for Hurr. Harvey and sent down goods), and I’m a mentor for at-risk (drugs/homelessness) kids and I mentor/tutor for TRIO. I sent 2 GRE scores to all schools (161v/165q/5w and 158v/166q/5w). I want to research market design/IO/MicroE, namely, types of market exchanges/Auct.Thy/Game.Thy.

Also recieved an acceptance for the MAPSS-ECON, but I was applying to the Econ phD.

Rejected, informal email. 0a/4r/3itv/12prnrnI'm honestly surprised, two of my letter writers got their Ph.D. from Rice (stats and math). I've done research with these two professors and I know they think favorably of me. I've done about 2.5 years of research, sent two gres... I'm the person who just posted about brown with the lengthy description.

To the poster below, if you've already accepted somewhere then decline the schools you haven't received rejections from because you're likely still being considered and wasting everyone else's time (applicants and PhD programs alike).

Are there any universities with deadlines left? Irrespective of the rankings

Research Assistantship, but I will withdraw it since I have the better offer from UWM. Good luck to others in the waiting list.

Advice needed please: I'm an international applicant, quite a strong profile, have heard back from 3-4 places for MA Econ with partial to full funding. But these seem to be the 2nd tier schools. I'm waiting for decisions from SFU, McMaster, McGill, Queen's, U of T & UBC. My question is: When do these top schools announce the international applicants' results? Should I email them? If so, when can I do that? I have not heard back yet - does that imply I'm on a wait-list in these places? Any kind of info/advice will be more than welcome. Thank you so much.
