2 interviews. No GREs. Received an email saying there is a status update in my MIT Application Portal

The committees reviewing applications for admission to the MIT Institute for Data, Systems, and Society (IDSS) were delighted to receive so many thoughtful and carefully prepared applications from talented individuals like you. While application reviews are continuing, at this point I am able to share a partial update on your application status. Unfortunately, we are not able to offer you admission to the SES doctoral program for the 2025/2026 academic year. Please note that, per your request in the SES application, you are also being considered for admission to the Technology and Policy Program, whose reviews are still in process. TPP admissions decisions are expected by mid-March. As you might expect, resources constrain the number of qualified applicants that we can accept, and I am sorry that we were unable to offer you a place in the SES PhD program. Thank you again for your interest in IDSS's academic programs.

Masters in marine science. 3.9 grad GPA. Multiple years of research experience at FFRDCs. Very disappointing. Posting this info so others can commiserate

3.96 grad GPA. Master's in Marine Biology. Little over two years of full-time research. Really disappointed by the results, thought I put a strong application together... "As you know, our program is very small so you should not be too discouraged by this news."

Master's GPA 3.94. Got email to check the portal.
