Received an email of a status update on the portal. Checked portal and saw rejection letter - 8 applied, 4 rejected, 2 interviews

american with UK masters degree. received encouraging email from DGS (not addressed to me personally though, just “dear applicant” lol) informing me that i had made it to the last round of decisions, and ultimately the rejection was based on faculty availability/area distribution rather than qualifications. makes sense because i do asian american history and there's only one asian americanist in the faculty. email said there were over 225 applicants for less than 10 spots. looks like this cycle might be a shutout for me. 0a/1w/4r/1p.

I've got an unofficial letter from the graduate advisor, but she said that the committees suggested I start my MA not getting into PhD course directly even though I already had one and submitted my applications to the PhD program. I'm confused... but still, I'm interested in this program!

I'm uncertain whether there's a waiting list, but I received an invitation email for the IST Virtual Graduate Recruitment. Was this email sent to all applicants or just to those who have been admitted? I'm not clear on this.

Admitted to the advanced standing Summer term for the MSW program. No interview requested. Applied Feb 7th and was accepted Feb 27th. I have a BSW :)

Applied for PhD but was accepted for MA instead. I will not be accepting this offer as I already have an MA. Good luck to all those on the waitlist!
