Computer Science, Columbia University Decisions take a long time due to Covid-19 is perfectly understandable. However, there is ABSOLUTELY NO EXCUSE to provide no update and ignore our inquiry emails. If the decision takes longer than usual given the current situation, just tell us so! I am sure people would understand. All they need to do is to say something. The way they ignored us shows no respect and compassion for people who are also going through this difficult time.

Computer Science, Columbia University Applied in October 2019, and my application is still in pending status. Engineering undergrad with a 4.0 gpa from the top university in Florida, 2 internships, and 2 years of work experience in the engineering field. Got into two other Ivy Leagues, but Columbia is my top pick. I think this is ridiculous. Columbia is not respecting their applicants by not giving them a timeline or an update on when they should be expecting to hear back.

Computer Science, Columbia University COVID-19 is a developing situation and things change rapidly. There are a lot of things at play that influences when the admission decisions go out. The application review process must have completed a long time ago (No need to change your application now). There is a chance that some more students will be admitted in the coming weeks. But like I had said earlier, everyone needs to wait till the school makes a decision. People who have decided to choose other schools should celebrate and move on. All the best!

Computer Science, Columbia University Completely agree. This is utterly hideous behavior from such a reputed university. Although I have decided to accept admit from another university, I deserve a decision(doesn't matter what). It's completely disrespectful to students to have to wait for more than 5 months for a decision. Covid-19 is no more an excuse as every other university has finished sending out the decisions and are already planning their Fall 2020 semester amidst the chaos. It looks like all that Columbia cared about is 85$ application fees. Byproduct of capitalism.

Computer Science, Columbia University I agree with the post below. I think it's completely disrespectful to tell applicants that they hope to have some information by the following week then go completely silent for the next 3 weeks. Regardless of the COVID situation, they should give us at least an update on how our applications are being reviewed...Anything?! What annoys me the most is actually the fact that I can still update my application, like really?!

Computer Science, Columbia University A followup on my last post: How many of you (accepted or waiting) are willing to pay the full tuition for online classes in Fall 2020? My last post: Columbia is working on the logistics of the next academic year (2020-2021). There are multiple plans that have been proposed so far but the engineering school (and CS department) has not taken a decision. Most likely a decision will be made by the end of June (Depending on the COVID-19 situation then) and everyone will hear back about their application status. As of now, there is a very high chance that classes will be held online in Fall 2020 (for incoming students). I hope this helps. All the best!

Computer Science, Columbia University Yes, I am in the same boat, besides that I applied in September 2019, interviewed March 2020. My application decision is still pending. I got into two other Ivy League schools but Columbia is my top pick. Best of luck for everyone still waiting.

Computer Science, Columbia University To the post below, yes you have companions. It has been officially over 3 weeks since CS department sent out that "we will sent update in the coming week" email. They should have at least give some timelines so people are not just waiting desperately.

Computer Science, University Of British Columbia TTPB: You will receive an e-mail from the department. Your decision will be available at the same portal where your application is, you just have to click on "Manage" (from "Manage" or "Review" options) and you should see a message from the department if your decision is available.
