Ignore waitlist. Does anybody know the details of the funding issues? These applications feel like a scam. They should not be allowed to accept $140 payments for applications to specific areas (e.g. Theory) if they anticipate accepting 0 applicants into those areas. Especially since one explicitly chooses a specialty in the form. Don't forget also that we're paying higher application fees for their review of a comparatively smaller number of application materials (e.g. no CV).

CME/QI. International with masters. I guess that solid research experience and SOP are what makes difference

Super relieved to get this, had been all bad news so far. Got an email earlier in the day asking if I had any interest in AMO as they didn't have room for me in astro (my indicated interest on my application. Later in the same day got an email to check portal for update and I was accepted with funding!

At the end of the interview, Grad director said I am gonna to admit you and will send everything within couple of weeks.

AMO - Quantum comp stuff. Personal email from admissions staff. Formal letter to come. Worked at quantum comp startup. Worked for govt contractor to write report on quantum networks. Working for private lab in Cali doing quantum stuff. 2 years Nitrogen Vacancy research at home institution. No journal pubs. No GRE.
