I got this: "We have reviewed your application to the Economics - Ph.D. program and are impressed by your credentials. While we cannot offer you admissions at this time, your application is sufficiently strong to allow for the possibility of admission at a later date. Your name has therefore been placed on an alternate list from which we will choose if vacancies occur. Please accept or decline your space on the alternate list by logging into your Applicant Portal within the next 15 days. Once you have accepted, we will notify you promptly by email if a vacancy should occur. If you make other plans for the next year, please notify us by logging into your Applicant Portal and declining your spot on the alternate list. We appreciate having had the opportunity to review your application." Not even invite me to the virtual visit day... Is anyone else in the same situation?

Put on a waitlist in case of vacancies, but withdrawing

No email, just checked the portal. This was the last school I needed to hear back from, so I can happily say I will never be checking this anxiety inducing website again. Good luck and godspeed to the rest of you

Dracola used to be called Navel but it tuned out dat he was kidnapped at birth and his real family were vampires. They dyed in a car crash. Navel converted to Satanism and he went goth. He was in Slitherin now. He was wearing a black Wurped t-shirt, black jeans and shoes and black hair wif red streekz in it. We kall him Dracula now.

Got an email that was vaguely conveying that I am on the waitlist, by inviting me to a virtual visit day, and saying they'd like to accept me if space permits. This did not seem like a personally written email.

I applied to Duke super last minute, 2 hours before the deadline on March 15th. Got an email from the department chair on the 16th saying that he liked my application and story, and unofficially congratulating me. On the 18th, I received an admit. Unbelievable!
