Formal rejection, post email to graduate program director. They did not suggest M.S., but I do have a M.S. in the field with high GPA. Another point--submitted application just minutes before extended deadline; it's possible that the committee reviews applications by submission date. Good luck!

Just for future applicants' reference, I should note that Duke supports all Ph.D. students who don't have outside funding (e.g. NSF GRF), so I was just paranoid, and there's no reason to worry about funding when you get a Duke offer. -- Roadrunner

A lovely personalized email informing me of my waitlist status. If anyone has made up their minds regarding the program, it’ll be great if you’ll let them know as soon as possible (no pressure, of course)!

Interesting, I was admitted to this program last year, but I declined it and took internship in the best medical school in US. And I am rejected this year, but got PhD offers from better engineering institutions, good luck to all of u.

Last minute acceptance off waitlist. Apparently yesterday in the morning they were not expecting to make offers from waitlist but thank god some guy accepted at some other place! o.O

I called the PhD admissions office, and they told me that they have not yet sent out interview invitations.

I haven't heard anything back either, hopefully we all will soon but maybe they need a few days for deliberation/to execute the sending-out of communications
