Graduate School Admission Results

3 first author papers (one in Nature Machine Intelligence) plus 7 or so middle author papers, 4 years research experience at Stanford and 2 years during my undergraduate, good gpa (89,5% avg), horrendous GRE score though (156 or something, first standardized test I ever took :/). Research area is AI/ML + Comp Bio

1 Top-tier conference paper first author. No interview from any POI.

No interviews, "We received over 2400 applications this year and were not able to admit all competitive applicants. The Graduate Admissions Committee evaluated the applications very carefully and had to make difficult decisions, denying admission to many excellent candidates because of the limited number of available slots."

Three strong letters from IS scholars. Doing IS work for years but not enough global health experiences (an international student).

TTPB, I am an admitted student also with only one faculty contact too. When I interviewed, my POI told me that they had so many app's this year that after the initial selection that profs were still left sifting through more apps than usual. This is to say that IMO, having only 1 faculty contact ~does~ mean that that contact was the one that submitted our candidacy to the committee, but that ~does not~ necessarily mean that they are the only person that wants to work with us.
