In January, I received an email that a Professor in Georgia Tech told me that I am one of the top batch, explained how PhD in Georgia Tech works, and asked me couple questions(whether I applied for my own school, etc). Then I got a bold rejection email. Is the previous email simply sent to a number of applicants? |

Regarding the Clarendon, here is how I am pretty sure it works: they send out their first round of scholarship offers in late March/early April (the different divisions may send out offers on different dates, but I was notified on March 23 or 24). People have until a specified date to decide (my decision date was April 5th). Then, they send out a second round of offers, depending on how many people accepted in the initial round. And so on. I think this is how it works with at least some other scholarships, such as maybe the Ertegun. The whole funding process at Oxford seems to be ridiculously opaque and the university bureaucracy would be well-advised, I think, to be more upfront about the process with applicants, for everyone's sake. |
