Graduate School Admission Results

Had to call the department. She sounded surprised that I hadn't received an email yet. Definitely rejected. Very sad day for me. Rejected by all the schools I applied to.

Emailed for status and was told decision was made last week.

Response to email enquiry. Said they recieved decision last week. Have a computer science masters degree with fair publications. Weak recommendations.

Really disappointing that I didnt even get called to an interview. But, guess the international admit chances are pretty slim here.

I strongly recommend against applying to this program if your goal is to get into UCB. I applied because a UCB professor explicitly recommended I do so during a meeting prior to application season. It seems the other departments fill their programs first, and if there are any spaces left over that pick from the AS&T applicants.

I initially called four weeks ago and was told I'd hear in 24-48 hours. Subsequent calls also indicated I wouldn't have to wait long to find out; the last response suggested I'd definitely know by the end of March. Finally got the email directing me to the website this afternoon.

As Shakira would say, "Waka, waka."

Rejected 2nd year in a row, not a single weakness to my application, 4.0 grad gpa (3.5 UG), 3 publications, many years bench/wet lab infectious disease research and public health infectious disease research, international research, strong LORs, multiple conferences, 2 NIH/NSF research fellowships. Only thing I can think of is that Berkeley looks down on the schools I have attended regardless of my accomplishments.
