Bioengineering, UCLA Received phone call without prior email from POI, with call serving as interview. POI wanted to know more about my background (atypical applicant). At end of call POI said he'd be recommending me for admission to the committee and would figure-out funding. Oddly UCLA had a preview day several days later and I was not invited. Unsure of the legitimacy of POI's interest.

Cinema And Media Studies, UCLA Called the admissions office and she said offers are still being made. Not sure what UCLA's problem is with their PhD program, but I had to finally accept my offer elsewhere on April 15. We aren't masters students, get with it UCLA.

Epidemiology, UCLA Accepted to the MPH program for the 1st year then to petition to PhD. Apparently they've had issues in the past with students not passing exams because their epi methods weren't solid enough. Classes would all be the same as 1st year PhD students so doesn't affect time to degree.

Cinema/Film Studies, UCLA To the poster below about the Cinema and Media Studies waitlist: I am still on it as well. I was told sometime after 4/20 I would be notified about a definitive answer. I looked up waitlist etiquette and it said to contact the department closer to that date to find out where you stand on the list. Good luck!
