3.9 in major GPA, independent undergrad research, research work exp, years of related volunteer work, strong SOP representing my ethics/motivations for the degree. somewhat generic email from the admin coordinator that said this cycle was complex with factors outside of applicant merit, but it still stings. first rejection of the year though, so it's far from over.

Applied to ISB with a specified interest in bioinformatics.

Third interview invite!!

Received the invitation for the formal interview last week. Would be interviewed by two or three faculties in the field of interest.

Generic email telling me there was a decision made on my application.

Multiple first-author research papers and conference papers. 1-year lab experience. A lot of extracurricular.

3+ years of research experience. 3 good LORs. 1 paper recently submitted. Participated in extracurricular projects. During the interview, explained my main interests clearly and how I could work on them in different labs within the program. The faculty was extremely friendly. Excited!!

Sent a mail to the department. Learned that interview invites went out a week or so after the application deadline. So sad... This was the school I had hoped for. Undergrad GPA: 3.40, Masters GPA:4.95, 4 years research experience, 5 years field experience, 2 pubs, 4 presentations, licensed C.Psychologist in my country.

Surprised with 4+ years of research experience including with a partner program. Plus a lot of extracurriculars I wasn't even offered an interview?
