Graduate School Admission Results

PI reached out to tell me I was admitted by the committee. Had pre-interview with PI in December.

Received email that they received over 800 applications and accepted 30 students.

Has anyone heard back from the Microbiology and Immunology PhD at Stanford? I have seen posts from other home programs, but nothing for this one. Also, ignore status. Any info would be of great help :)

Dear Loser, I am the Director of Graduate Admissions and Placement at the University of Texas at Austin's Department of Government. Although we are unable to admit you at this time to our Ph.D. program, I am happy to inform you that the admissions committee was impressed by your application. We have placed you on a waitlist for Fall 2023, in the hope that some spots will open up in our incoming class. Our admissions process is very competitive, and the decisions are tailored as much to the mix of interests represented in the class as they are to the quality of the applicants. We do believe you could be successful here if it turns out we are able to admit you. Although unfortunately we could not admit you outright, we would very much like you to keep our program in mind, as you make decisions about your graduate career. We hope to make our decisions about the waitlisted candidates in late March/early April as we hear from our current admits, and definitely before April 15.
