Ignore status. Has anyone gotten accepted/not heard back yet? All I have seen are rejections posted and I'm starting to get nervous.

No interviews but emailed to check portal and got into waitlist. Strange.

115 toefl which cost me my one month's pay as an international 3rd world country citizen.

For anyone out there feeling dejected -- I did my MA funded at a T10, wrote a highly rated thesis and have strong relationships with faculty who wrote & advocated on my behalf. This is my second cycle and I'm currently 0/6 and expecting at this point 2 more rejections. In addition to the fact that there are truly too many qualified candidates for these pools, you also have to remember that there are SO many random factors that go into PhD admissions every year. It is totally different than admissions for undergrad or professional degrees. I've seen the other side through my grad program and also from working in higher ed for years before. It's just so damn competitive and applicants can only control so much about how their application is received. It sucks to be rejected, but do your best to let the suck stop there. Don't write a story of yourself as a failure for it.

GPA is MA. Gutted- had a long chat over email with POI, currently a VAP with a 4/4, thought the reimagined PhD program here was going to be a tight fit. Was waitlisted here last cycle- straight rejection this time. Finding it tough to keep hope alive. Top choice. Best of luck to all other applicants! Hang in there!
