Graduate School Admission Results

Had an interview and got informal acceptance (formal acceptance to come in the following weeks). 2 research projects during my undergrad, one of which resulted in a first author pub. 1 internship. Undergrad at Canadian uni ranked in the teens (for Canada)

First result is not a rejection. I'm so happy.

This is crazy. The past weekend a Stanford PI reached out and said they needed to interview me by Sunday at the latest. However, I was about to go to honey moon with my wife to the Bahamas. I already paid 10k for an all inclusive villa, but I can't risk the spotty wifi there, so I cancelled my trip last minute and stayed home to do my interview. My wife was super upset and left me. I tried to chase after her to explain the situation, but she told me we are over. I was devastated. I was on the brink of taking a small step forward from the edge of my roof top until I got an email notification. "Congratulations, we are excited to offer you admissions to Stanford CS PhD program for Fall 2023." I lost my wife and I almost lost my life, but it is all worth it.

Received email with invite to virtual recruitment event/interview.

I had a recommender fall through, so I didn't think they would review my application, but they did and told me that they can only admit so many people and cannot admit me to the program at this time

Rejected a few days after interview.

Received email to check the portal. No funding info yet. 2yrs pre doc RA. Master towards quantitative/data science subject.

Got a mail to check portal. Not dissappointed since it was not a good fit to begin with. However, third rejection till now. 10 more to go.
