Graduate School Admission Results

Here's the thing about Canadian schools: they simply fail to admit baller applicants. I'm talking about ballers on the level of Micheal Jordan, Lebron James, Steph Curry, etc. They get these amazing applicants (like me), and they throw them out! No wonder their country is rapidly deteriorating (projections show they will soon have one of the lowest HDIs and GDP/Capita in the entire world). Anyways, as an AMERICAN I will be writing my members of congress and encouraging them to liberate Canada by any means necessary.

Duolingo English test: 135

Finally!!!!! Applied by priority deadline and did not hear back. I was disappointed because I thought my poor GPA would hold me back. 3 research papers and strong LoRs from well regarded professors. Ivy Bound!

Surprised, given I was accepted to every other program I applied (including Ivies). Graduated in '19, work experience not relevant to degree. No publications or significant research experience.

Applied directly from undergrad with limited research/field experience.

Intend for a Ph.D. study at first, but later I contacted my POI to know that they have limited funding for me. The great advice from Gradcafe is that you should contact them if you have other funding sources

A bit surprise it is not a straight rejection. 3.9+ GPA DS major from a small college. 2 relevant internships. No GRE nor publication

The last decision I was still waiting for. MSCS has been extraordinarily competitive this season. Fall '23 applicants, please apply to more safe schools and alternative programs along with the MSCS ones, it honestly saved my MS dream.

Came from economics who worked for 14-year as a software developer at a government institution. Being one of the applicants who get a massive wave of rejection today.

2 years of work experience at FAANG, 1-year research at an Ivy, 3 A* publications.

TA for 7+ stats courses, including graduate level ML class. Data science internship with software company and Mayo Clinic. Primary author on Mayo Clinic paper, but had yet to be officially submitted/published.

Didn't have any research experience and I think that played a major role in me not getting in.

Better than I expected TBH. Went to an honors program at a big 10 school, no gre, great recommendations, no published works but multiple research oriented projects. Somewhat relevant work experience for the past 8 months. Also studied Mechanical Engineering as opposed to a more relevant major.
