It was not a good fit anyway. I have a better offer from Germany.

Based on this decision, I have the unpleasant duty of informing you that you will neither get a conditional offer for our Ph.D. program nor for a scholarship. We received a very large number of applications, by far exceeding our capacity. As a consequence, we have to reject many well qualified candidates."

Has anyone heard from Bonn, after their initial acceptances? They usually send a second wave, and also inform whether the application is rejected or will be considered with the second round/ for a Master's.

TPB: I did not hear anything back from NHH.

TPB: People got wait-listed at the end of February last year. There might be that possibility.

Absolutely devastated. Had very excellent fit and connections and spent ages on their stupid research statement. So devastated. so sick of admissions.

I have three admits from Ag Econ/Applied Econ departments at UC Davis, Cornell Dyson and U of Minnesota. I am wondering if anyone has any advice as to which is the better program in their opinion?

Full tuition waiver + stipend from 2 year (12.000E), 3-4 year(17.000E) and 5-6 year(22.000E). Very excited!!!

TPB: No. They usually ask tuition for the first year only - and a good bunch of their PhD track students normally get their tuition (some partially, some completely) waived. UPF used to fund their PhD students from 2nd year onwards. In fact, this is the first year UPF admits its PhD students through a separate admissions process. You must be completely out of your mind to say "This is what UPF does every year" whilst referring to the year UPF reformed its PhD process in its entirety. Get your facts straight before you rant online.

TPB: you have to be either stupid or extremely unprepared to not know that this is their normal funding policy and that they do this every year. That is the reason I did not even apply. They have to realize that their funding is not competitive. We all should not play this game. It is the same with predocs.

Wow -- congratulations to Barcelona GSE (UPF) for getting the "most ridiculous offer scheme award" this year. Not a good start for their PhD track applications. Who would pay 22k for the first 2 years of the PhD, just to earn 1500 monthly afterwards?
