Graduate School Admission Results

UCB was supposef to notify all decisions by 1st April according to their FAQs. If there is a delay, atleast they should inform us !!

not surprised, second time rejected by Berkeley. ..April fools day. Lost the opportunity to attend the same university with my girlfriend.

Not surprised. Still got complicated feelings being informed on April fools' day.

Interview notification: 2/3/2020

I think most people waiting at this point (including me) are rejections. There's been plenty of people on here that posted acceptances and I also know someone in real life that got the acceptance. Berkeley sends rejections after the admits so this isn't anything new.

Thanks for your information. I wrote to "mengadmissions@eecs.berkeley.edu" and there was no response. I am not sure if "gradadm@berkeley.edu" really checked your status or just replied "under review" because of no update of your online apllication. It is not EECS department after all.

I also emailed to the admission office but received no respose. To the guy who got a reply, could you please tell me which email address you sent to?

I sent an email to the grad office and they told me the application is still "under review" by the department. I am positive admissions are not over due to the number of people that are still waiting from this website. I think the whole virus situation has affected the usual timeline of the department.

Finally received my rejection! I wish they've sent me sooner so that I didn't go through this mental torture for so long. My background was in Industrial engineering (masters) but I've passed lots of statistic_related courses with top grades. My Bachelor's GPA was 3.7 (I was also the top student (first_ranked) of my graduating class), Masters GPA 3.91. I also published 4 papers and I was the first author in all of them. My last paper was published in a Q1 prestigious journal (it included statistical analysis). I had 4 very strong recommendation letters. I think my SOP and PHS was good enough. I worked on them a lot and 7 other people read and revised them. But apparently all of these were not enough for them. That's OK though. Congratulations to all who are accepted.

Also still haven't heard back...

I thought I was the only one who had not received a result so far, but it seems others have not as well. I don't know if we can just assume a rejection because we know that one rejection was sent on March 26th which was before most acceptances, so it may be that those who have not received anything yet may be in a group outside of the clear admittees but also outside of the group of clear rejectees.

Do I just assume rejected if still haven't received the result at this point? (Meng) Most of my schools' deadline is April 15th.
