2 letters of rec from distinguished Stanford graduates, 3 years combined research/work experience

To Stanford CS applicants, the CS interviewer did mention that those who are being interviewed for PhD admission are in the top 20% of the applicants this year. They usually finally take in 1/3rd of those interviewed. However, if more applicants apply to a particular research group, then the probability of getting in decreases. Those who have been interviewed will be notified within 1/2 weeks.

Interview with POI. Mostly questions about undergrad research. Decisions might not come out for another 2-3 weeks (very rough estimate), so don't panic if things seem to be taking longer than last year.

Are there people who have not received either an acceptance or a rejection mail from Stanford? From the looks of it, all results seem to have come out yesterday.

Graduate GPA. Wasn't my top choice school.

Rejected via email. Was going to Harvard anyway..

I knew I wasn't getting in since I didn't get an interview, and didn't hear much back from the PI's I spoke with. Meh

Surprised (no interview). Area: NLP. 3 top NLP conf. papers, 2 first authors.

To rejectees below accepted elsewhere, where did you get in?

Just got a call from a professor! There will be an April visit day. Am I dreaming?

Making a good decision is more important than the effort you put. 4 years back if you chose Berkeley, UIUC, UCSD, Waterloo as undergrad school and also chose CS major, you now have greater chance of getting in than others who come from a top school outside of US, or a top school in US but not strong in CS or who aren't even CS major.
