Computer Science, Stanford University To Stanford CS applicants, the CS interviewer did mention that those who are being interviewed for PhD admission are in the top 20% of the applicants this year. They usually finally take in 1/3rd of those interviewed. However, if more applicants apply to a particular research group, then the probability of getting in decreases. Those who have been interviewed will be notified within 1/2 weeks.

(Computer Science, Stanford University Making a good decision is more important than the effort you put. 4 years back if you chose Berkeley, UIUC, UCSD, Waterloo as undergrad school and also chose CS major, you now have greater chance of getting in than others who come from a top school outside of US, or a top school in US but not strong in CS or who aren't even CS major.
