TTPB: According to their website, transcripts requests are sent out to "finalists". So, a call for transcripts likely does not mean acceptance but suggests improved likelihood. It is my conjecture that if others in your specialization have received transcript calls and you have not, it is an implicit rejection. Most decisions by the department seem to have been made early/mid March in previous years. I am waiting to hear from them as well. |

My main interest was in Computational Social Science. 1.5 years of computational engineering research, 1 year of sociology research. Was put in the master's pool after my PhD application was rejected. No financial aid, and I have PhD acceptances elsewhere with funding, so I will probably decline. |

Congrats to all candidates who got admits! Very unhappy to see that people with much better research ac*men getting rejected! Seems like intern*l recommendations play the main game in CS grad school applications in the US. Its so unfair and similar to nep*tism. In the end, this will only affect these universities' research and ranking. Candidates who got rejected, dont lose hope. You have something better coming. Your research ability will make you glow much better in the future. I got rejects from UTCS, Stanford, CMU, UW, Cornell. Undergrad from tier 1 institute in my country. 3 Very strong letters. 3 papers. 1 nips and 2 first author papers. 4 research internships at tier 1 institutes in US and my country. Semester internship at top class industrial research lab. |
