which one is better? Cornell or Columbia?

I've just received an answer via email, saying that if I haven't heard anything from them yet is because my application is still in consideration.

Got a mail from UBC Vancouver mentioning that I am in the top 1% of the waitlist and if anyone rejects or withdraws, I will be the first to be contacted. Anyone else got a similar mail ? What can i infer from this.

E-mail mentioning offer and official letter on website. 14k funding in the form of TA/RA and international student benefit.

Are the CS merit based awards in offer letters or are they determined at a later date? Thanks in advance

Canadian & Rotation Scholarship :D

Canadian, 3.95 GPA, Rotation Scholarship

Accepted to the Optimization group with a funding offer of 18K CAD per year. Was interviewed mid February. So relieved.

Canadian applicant. $15,700 funding.

To all the stressed out people freaking out about not hearing back from Columbia and trying to game out what this means: I emailed them and was informed that I'm on their wait list, but did not get any official form email or have my status updated on the application website. That is what I know for sure. My GUESS is that anybody else who has not been accepted or rejected is also on the wait list, and I suspect that we may not hear anything until after April 15, by which time the most recent batch of admits is supposed to give Columbia their answers (according to someone who posted on this site).

'Twas an ambitious attempt anyway.

I haven't received any email stating that I am in the wait-list. Does this mean that my admission chances are very low now?
