Received email this evening inviting me to virtual interview day in Feb. Email from program director.

Two faculty - amazing interviewers. Felt free to talk about myself and ask about their expectations. Feeling good about this.

Two faculty interviewed. Have to say, it was a bit of awkward because the whole conversation felt scripted. It was a long interview (1 hr+) and half of the interview was that both described what kind of project they had been working on. I was curious and able to ask questions about the potential projects.

Research interests: American political communication, no pub, APSA pre * 1. Has tried, not regret! No interview.

An international student with a low GPA of 3.06 during undergraduate. But my Master's degree GPA improved to 3.85, which saved my life. I applied and failed for PhD program 3 times already and finally got some luck this year. Currently, I'm in my third year of a full-time RA job. I have a first-author(IF=10), 3 conferences (talking and posters), and have 1 paper being reviewed. I spent three years doing experiments in labs and three years on computational -omics analysis. My undergrad GPA suffered because I had to retake four core courses, mainly because I didn't like my major back then. Just to encourage some international folks who are at a disadvantage as out-of-state students/visa holders, do not lose hope

I was very hopeful for this university but the committee voted for wailtlist. Chances are very narrow, but I am still waiting for the best.

Received Mail to check the portal, and then accepted. Didn't submit the GRE!
