Graduate School Admission Results

Structural focus. Did not get email yet but checked status and the decision letter was there

Below post on MS and E shows that maybe students who have not yet received decisions are either waitlisted or it is just that their areas are taking more time.

Mar. 22 is so late.. I have exploding offer that expires early March.. what should i do :(

I am not the person below, but I sent an email to consider me for master's program after I was rejected from Ph.D. In their response, they mentioned the decision timeline for a master's degree. "we expect to be able to inform applicants of MS decisions beginning the week of March 22nd."

To the applicant above, who sent you the email? People at Stanford? I applied for this program as well, but I haven't gotten any email. lol

MSc degree in physics with a 3.5 GPA, 8.5y of research experience, 4.5y of experience in the field I applied to. Have developed my entire master thesis in their shared facilities, have collaborators there, have participated in group meetings an entire summer, had 3 strong letters, one of them being from a professor from Stanford, 4 publications, 2 first-author, presented in over 10 conferences. Even my recommender from there thought I had good chances of getting in. I really don't understand how I was not even wait listed...

To people who got email: what is your sub field? Thank you

TPB: I'm thinking about deferring, I've heard there is a significant chance classes will not be completely in person/there will still be a lot of restrictions in the Fall and there could be visa problems for me. I don't want to lose on the social experience and networking in first year. I don't know if this will help waitlisted candidates.

Don't take it too personally. All of my friends had high GPA and publications (all out of a top school) got rejected from Stanford last night. Same with Harvard and Princeton, which decided to scale back on admissions. If you don't have connections and/or extreme luck, it is a complete sh*tshow this year. Godspeed all.

Maybe they have no idea who to accept; just figuring out who to reject?...

TTPB: I got an email saying that they will begin informing applicants of decisions on March 22nd.

TTP(s)B: Has anyone actually been accepted to Stanford Applied Physics?? Seems strange that they would send out rejections first, as it's usually the other way around...

Are you prospective DLCL students worried about March 4th? How selective do you think this virtual visit will be? Any tips? Thanks!!!

Any cross-admit thinking about choosing another university (Harvard/MIT/Princeton/Yale/Chicago)? Stanford is the only top 10 non-rejection I've got. :(
