applied for NLP. domestic applicant, t40 cs, 1 solo pub in related STEM field (best paper at midtier conference). i expected a reject due to the miniscule acceptance rate, but i've seen incredible profiles on gradcafe getting rejected as well. seattle is mid anyway (copium)

Timeline: 12.10-2.10; Track: CV+Robotics; BG: 4 non-top pubs, undergraduate; T105, G330; Details: I have touched a POI in Sep. 2022 who encouraged me to submit application and said he will take a close look. The rejection email writes there are over 2800 applicants ot the CSE department competing for dozens of positions, the competition is fierce.

This place punches far above its weight, already got acceptances from better programs so not worried. Don't know a single person who's ever gotten in for this program.
