Graduate School Admission Results

TTPB: Congrats on the acceptances! Would you mind sharing if you applied only to the MS, or to the PhD and requested to be considered for the MS? Thank you!

Not surprising given they only have 10-15 seats per year. Have 3 years of quantitative work experience (1 as a data scientist in a tech start-up) and submitted what I thought were strong letter of recommendations from 2 professors and my manager at my current job. I initially wanted to submit 2 letters from industry, but one of my previous managers didn't submit a rec in time, so I had to scramble to find another professor from my undergrad who previously wrote me a strong letter years ago that got me into my first master's program. Also had a ML paper pending submission at time of application, but guessing they only care about published papers at the time of application? Undergrad in Economics & Mathematics from an Ivy League school and master's from another top 5 school.

Absolutely shocked, am I dreaming?

TTPB: Thanks for letting us know! I wouldn't be surprised if MechE decisions are released on the same day as CS decisions. Hopefully, "a few days" means by the end of this week :)

TTPB: MechE department emailed back today: "We should be releasing decisions within the next few days. Thank you for your patience!"

1) All these accusations and race-based comments are such a waste of time -- you'd be better off focusing on things you're in control of -- e.g. coursework, research, and related experience, if you seriously want to get in 2) You are presumably interested in working with these professors, and yet you seem to believe they have no idea how to judge how to choose the best incoming class. Faculty have a lot more experience in academia and have been working with and admitting students for years -- you should trust them to pick the right people. Sure, false negatives do exist, but usually people want to avoid false positives more. 3) Membership in the admissions committee usually isn't publicized, so the comment on it being easier for people who are Chinese (or any group of people really) to get in, based on the ethnic composition of the committee is unfounded.

Not waitlist. TTPB: I think we can expect to hear back on Friday (19th).

Does anyone know when MS Computer Science applicants can expect to hear back?

I can't express how excited I am! This is my top choice! David Hills sent me an extremely kind email letting me know that I'm on the waitlist (no information about how likely I will be admitted yet, though.) If you were admitted but are planning to decline, please let us know!

Don't know why I'm getting my rejection so late.

Rejected from AA PhD, accepted to MS. Probably can't afford it.
