Admittedly weak on my second language, but thankful that admissions saw past it!

No GRE, 2 years of work experience abroad, offered $10,000 in funding for 1 year.

4 years relevant work experience, strong (I think) LORs, submitted GRE scores and supplemental essay.

GPA just an inch above 3.5, no GRE, and no capital hill/think tank/strong internships in or out of undergrad. However, I spent considerable amount of time (6+ years) in China doing multiple projects, and had a couple solid recommenders for the program. If you're hesitating about your own merits, craft your narrative around where you're strong and try your best. I graduated undergrad in 2015 in English and Sociology! Additionally, anyone know when we have any decisions on merit scholarships?

No GRE, spent considerable time studying abroad (Taiwan Fall '23), currently in Beijing for Spring '24), internship abroad, went to a community college & eventually a state school for undergrad, first generation, blue-collar background. HYPED.

My undergrad grades were terrible, but my four years working at foreign policy think tank in the region and Indonesian language skills strengthened my application. I'd also made professional connections through my work who had ties to the program and wrote great letters of recommendation. I didn't take the GRE.

I truly did not think I'd even get in because of my GPA, but I applied anyway. I have 7 years of work experience, including 3 years on Capitol Hill (1.5 years at a Military Legislative Assistant). I had a strong story for my interest in technology and national security, having worked in tech in the private sector. I think my work experience and recommendation letters most likely tipped me over. If you're worried about your GPA, apply anyway and see what happens! All the advice I got about the Committee placing high value on work experience turned out to be correct. I did not take the GRE, and instead wrote an analytical essay on lethal autonomous weapons systems.

Club president, member of 2 other clubs, worked 3/4 years of undergrad, White House internship, and received 6.5k in merit aid.
