Graduate School Admission Results

Rudely rejected on new years morning. Professor seemed very interested in me in previous conversation.

The application was initially due January 5th and I submitted it on the 5th. The deadline was then extended to the 15th, so I didn't expect to hear anything until much later. Received an email on the 19th (only 4 days after the extended deadline) telling me I was invited, along with a few select applicants, to join the department in a virtual meet and greet with faculty and former students.

To the question below-- I'm not the original poster, but I heard they were aiming to wrap up interviews the 18th and make decisions "quickly" after that. No idea about specific dates though.

Having seen others receiving interview notices or rejection letters, I wrote to the director to inquire about my unchanged status. The reply, which informed me of rejection, was so gentle that I couldn't be mad. Congrats on those finalists!

Received an email from the Director of Graduate Studies saying I was not selected for an interview, however I was among the top 25% of applicants "because of [my] research question and [my] experiences."

I got the same status update on portal, it just changed to Complete a few weeks back. Hang tight, just another week left, and good luck!

To the poster below: my status on the checklist changed from submitted to complete a few weeks ago. What's yours!?

For the person who posted about Cornell: I was told that we won't hear back till February. Btw, did you notice a change in your status on portal?

To the poster from UChicago, when was your interview, and did they mention when results would come? Anyone else heard from UChicago?

Invited to interview in a nice email from the graduate director.

I just received an incredibly nice email from my POI requesting a sort of informal interview to discuss the program in-depth. I am very excited as I like the program a great deal and it seems like a good sign!

I was soft-rejected about a month ago but got the official rejection the other day. Not surprised honestly after my conversation with my POI, they seem to have a competitive program and are looking for students with masters and more focused research agendas.

I'm not sure. I have not had my interview yet, but POI said applications are not officially starting the review process until Tuesday, 1-19-21
