Wow -- got moved from the waitlist... I'm in a bit of shock

Well, at least I have peace of mind, now! On to Plan B...

Can we call to know about our reject status? @poster above, Do they give results on phone? Esp. Rejects?

Congratulations to the above guy too! I am also curious about which group have you applied? Do you know how many students they will admit this year?

Applied to PhD, accepted to MS (although everyone is).

Very disappointed in how they operate. didnt hear back by april 15 so requested a decision letter-- twice. never got anything. then was notified via email on 5/11 that the waitlist was being closed-- despite never having been informed i was on a waitlist. asked which group i was waitlisted for and if they had actually (re)sent the notification letters, as they had promised. said the letters may have gotten lost and--heres my fav part--" I am sorry that I cannot inform you of which group you were waitlisted on, but wish you luck in future endeavors." sure, that makes sense.

Finally. I thought I was going to graduate before they told me anything. Guess I'll go with plan B.

MIT why doest thou ignore me?

graduated from top schools, holder of a few undergrad degrees, excellent grades, perfect & relevant work experience and the groups I applied for said the online portfolio was the most important factor. Jerks couldn't even be bothered with accessing my site not even once (& yes, I monitor ALL traffic my site generates)

for $80 they could have taken 5 minutes from their corporate sponsored, drone-propelled, Wall street recycled mindset and earned the fee that was paid to their overstuffed pockets. I vow to take my work (and particularlly my outstanding website) to the highest places and ears on the globe. Best of luck to everyone!

I didn't really care to post here because it's already over... and I was just using this site to get an idea of when I can expect decisions. But enough is enough, there is a trend here... I had a very similar experience to below posters. LLK was also one of the groups I aimed for, but the main group I aimed for decided not to take any new students and let me know in mid-March, not responding to e-mails for two months prior. I didn't even get a fair chance at showing more interest to my other two groups. Communication was nonexistent, and they didn't have the respect to let me know of the decision ASAP... I live in Boston and the snail mail rejection arrived six days after it was printed... it's been a nightmare, and a long one at that. Good luck to everyone.

to the poster below me, which group decided not to accept anymore students? (& yet still advertised themselves as open prior to the app deadline)

They really jerked me (and it looks like a lot of people) around. First they abolished CMS (my first pick) AFTER i applied. Then they drew out this notification system for no reason at all. Lifelong Kindergarten was what i aimed for, as well as camera and computing culture. I had perfect grades in separate degrees in media and engineering (signal processing), and i was even using their SCRATCH program in a little different way to set up media training centers for impoverished kids around the world. Even if i got rejected they could have had the decency to be much more communicative through the whole process.

Affective Computing. So thrilled! Heard there were 129 applicants for 1 spot (in this group). Feel very, very lucky. Spoke w/ the prof at a conf, which helped get my foot in the door, I think. Good luck, everybody!
