Graduate School Admission Results

Bummer, I was really feeling good this year. Two years industry work in spacecraft operations and a few publications. Congratulations to the 8%!

Anyone any updates please?

TTTP: Congrats!. At what time did you get the notification. Which specialization/groups did you apply to?

8% acceptance rate shook me! I knew back on Monday when everyone got the admits that I was gonna get rejected. Still held on to some hope. I'd rather apply another season when COVID's over and the sky is blue again!

Haven't recieved any updates for my application. Are all Ph.D decisions out?

The email said: "I'm writing to let you know that we need more time: the decision on your case has not yet been made. We are very sorry for the delay." I was expecting a rejection since I didn't get an interview invite, so this is a pleasant surprise. It seems like they're waiting for the current round of interviews before deciding if they need to talk to more candidates.

For all of you who got rejected, do you think that getting rejected by SES would hurt our chances of getting in the TPP program? Also, if you got admitted TPP would you accept their offer?

Tbh I was expecting this cuz I am an undergrad student with no master's degree. Dear (NAME): The committees reviewing applications for admission to the MIT Institute for Data, Systems, and Society (IDSS) were delighted to receive so many thoughtful and carefully prepared applications from talented individuals like you. While application reviews are continuing, at this point I am able to share a partial update on your application status. Unfortunately, we are not able to offer you admission to the SES doctoral program for the 2021/2022 academic year. Please note that, per your request in the SES application, your application is also part of the Technology and Policy Program applicant pool, whose reviews are still in process. TPP admissions decisions are expected around 15 March. As you might expect, resources constrain the number of qualified applicants that we can accept, and I am sorry that we were unable to offer you a place in the SES PhD program. Thank you again for your interest in IDSS's academic programs

Application forwarded to the TPP master's program. Permanent resident, attended US undergrad and masters institutions.

2 years of relevant research experience, 1 first-author paper, 2 first-author conference presentations. Congrats to everyone who got in. On to the next for me.

Ttpb: Yeahh I emailed them. They said they're still finalizing decisions, and they should be out in a week or so

Received my rejection email this morning. The program coordinator had said in a separate email that every applicant should receive word on their admission decision by March 1st so keep an eye out. Stay strong! You'll succeed regardless of where you end up!
