Dear Student, Thank you for your application to the PhD Program at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra. The admissions committee was very favourably impressed by your application but, unfortunately, due to the high volume of excellent candidacies we received this year, we are unable to offer you a place at the present time. What we can do, however, is to place your name on a “reserve list” from whom we will be making further selections in case there are cancellations in the future. If this happens, we will offer full funding for year 2 onwards, but we will be unable to offer funding for the first year (only Full Fee Waivers will be available). To posters below. I don't know why all of you are so mad at the poster that recommended that you get a masters or a predoc. Isn't this good advice? Just do your predoc somewhere decent like Chetty Lab and your chances at places like Harvard are so much better. If you didn't apply to predocs, why? If you did apply but didn't get one, why? I thought that predocs looked for mostly the same features as PhD programs. Isn't it a bad sign if you couldn't even land a predoc?

Words of advice from someone who reviews hundreds of applications annually- if you did not get into your 'dream' school this year or another program you are highly interested in, take the year to work on your application and beef up your CV. Take more advanced math classes to boost your GRE score above 165. Because honestly, even that is a little low. We highly regard all the maths you have taken and it is definitely discussed in our review. Take advanced economics course where you will do research and possibly meet faculty where you can get an recommendation letter of value. Especially if you are coming from a degree that is not economics. Join a master's degree program if you do not already have one, again, so you can get a foundation and recommendation letter of value. Suck it up, it may take you an extra two years to get a PhD. There is absolutely no harm in that. Research you have already done and potential for research are what everyone looks for. Most programs have their student admissions criteria on their website, if you do not meet it, don't waste your money by applying. There are 100 other applicants that do meet the criteria so you won't even be considered. Do your research and prepare.

Ignore WL. Has anyone else *not* heard back from LSE on way or another? I saw a massive swathe of rejections and acceptances a few weeks back but my LSE for you is still stuck on 'under consideration'.

GPA is grad. I got accepted without funding, so I will decline.

First got the email that I would be reconsidered for the second deadline, now got a quicker answer anyway. Will reject, so good luck to everyone on the waitlist!

Received the acceptance email after having an interview at the same day. Have a week to accept the offer.
