Computer Science, Carleton University To the salty poster below from iit bhu who couldn't get into Carleton university. Bro, your profile wasn't good enough and that's why you good reject. I know a couple of students from private universities in India whose profiles were leagues ahead of you that got accepted. Canada doesn't have a concept of Tier-4 or Tier-5 universities, so focus on improving your profile first before you rant about a college again. Moreover, the playing field is leveled as far North-American universities are concerned for admissions to students from India who belong to IITs/Non-IITs. Those who got accepted to top colleges from IITs/Non-IITs had incredibly good profiles and they got in courtesy to their skills in computer science and not "extracurriculars".

Computer Science, University Of Manchester this university is a scam. first they changed my application from round 2 to round 3 because their system had a glitch. then they rejected me saying i dont have 8gpa whereas my friend from same scholl got in with 6.92 which is interesting because i have much more than him. and the best part is the person making this decision is a 24 yr old who studied english in ug but is making decisions for computer science masters.

Statistical Practice (MSSP), Boston University My GPA was mediocre/below average tbh and I had a few C's in my record (which I elaborated in my Statement of Purpose), but I think what made my application strong was not only my high GRE quantitative score, but a relatively strong background related to Statistics and Data Science: while I did have C's in my record (and a couple were major-related as a Computer Science major), I had strong grades in my computational/math courses especially the ones essential to Statistics and Data Science (I'm also a math major as well so I definitely took a good amount of computational/math courses). Also, despite my mediocre/below average GPA, my grades improved every semester since fall of junior year up until I applied for the program, so that helps. I also had a strong programming background, especially being a Computer Science major, and did research and independent study opportunities related to Statistics and Data Science (and I discussed about them in-depth in my Statement of Purpose) as well with a couple of personal side projects. I wouldn't say that I'm an expert or outstanding in Statistics and Data Science yet (more like beginner to intermediate level), but I at least had some sort of foundation or sufficient-enough background for me to somehow stand out in my application. I think the professors and my independent study mentor, who I asked to write letter of recommendations for me, like me enough to give me strong letters of recommendations (I couldn't see since I waived my rights for all of them), so that definitely helps. I will not be attending there due to location and even high price (tuition and travel), but I hope what I have here helps for future applicants. :)

Computer Science, Renssalear Polytechnic Institute (RPI) Rejected from RPI's MS Computer Science program. However I received an email that my application was forwarded to the MS Information Technology program.

Computer Science, Purdue University - West Lafayette Got my second admission and one that I can take. As I stated just below (in OSU admission) the same Lacey Siefers of Purdue who said I have not got admission writes stating "I am excited to inform you that the Department of Computer Science at Purdue University is recommending you for admission to the MS program beginning fall 2021. You will receive your admission message from the Graduate School through the electronic application system in a few days. " So for those who ask these schools whether they have been rejected, they simply state that you are not in accepted pool, so must be reject, but later like me can get the admit as the many applications including yours might be in processing. SO UNTIL YOU GET A REJECT ONE SHOULD WAIT. Also in my case, much against my dad's advice I chose to apply well in advance and so Purdue was my first application on Oct 15 followed by OSU in a few more days. I get Purdue almost a month after the first round. My third application in end Oct was UCSD and I am assuming I might again get it. EVERYTHING seems to be LIFO and not FIFO unless ofcourse like OSU all admits are sent out in a group. Along with the Purdue good news, I got a reject from GA. That means top 10 colleges (4 applied) all reject. Maybe my experience (just passed out in 2020 Aug) was not sufficient though I seem to have scalped something out by decent CGPA and a few Intl. Publications. Happy that I will hopefully fly out as Purdue is fine and I am more or less going to take it though I might wait for UCSD and for WiscMad PMP. Anyone has suggestions among these three can please respond. Two more awaited are UNC and PennState. All the best to other applicants.

Computer Science, Georgia Institute Of Technology Tier 1 institute from India (8.2/10 GPA), 3 mediocre international conference papers. Decent LORs. 6 month Computer Vision internship. First decision this session. Expected this but still disappointed.
