I have four years of work experience as an SWE. I have no research experience outside of my dissertation and no publications. I have no TA experience.

Mechanical Engineering, UCLA Interviewed in January and the professor already told me that he wouldn't have any openings this year weeks ago, it was expected. If you did not graduate from the USA or best universities, people are not so interested in investing in you and expect you to have your own funding for the first year, particularly for the top universities. I already have a good offer and accepted it. To whoever reading this: rejection is not all about you but the system, funding, and openings. Never let any rejection define you! We are living in a world where drop-outs rule. It's all about shaping your own ideas and making them true. Musicology, University Of Minnesota Email to check the portal, where I found a letter telling me I was put on their waitlist. I have accepted an offer elsewhere, so spots should be moving on waitlists for U of M, UNC Chapel Hill, and Eastman. Good luck to those still waiting and congrats to those accepted!
