Philosophy, University Of California, Berkeley Okay, are we not gonna talk about the AUDACITY of that rejection letter lol? Most are conciliatory and acknowledge a bit of the fickleness and randomness of the process, but that letter was: "We had a lot of applications and had to choose the best. And you definitely were not among the best"

Philosophy, University Of California, Berkeley Two rejections in one day. Ouch. I think coming from an unknown institution with non-analytic letter writers has hurt me more than my overall GPA. I thought I was a good fit. Prestige bias strikes again, or I'm just unlucky. 0a/0w/4r/10p

Ethnic Studies, University Of California, Berkeley i took a one gap year after uc berkeley (gpa is undergrad; no gre). i was called on feb 1 by the interim ethnic studies graduate advisor and informed of the decision. i received an email later in the day with the offer letter and the portal was updated to reflect the decision that night. 6 applicants were accepted overall. stats so far: 1r, 1w, 4a, 1p.

American Studies, University Of Minnesota i took a one gap year after uc berkeley (gpa is undergrad; no gre). i was emailed dec 29 for a zoom interview (which happened jan 11). the interviewers were really nice, even tho i was really nervous. i was emailed feb 7 (no portal update) and told i had been waitlisted but that it was mostly the result of funding cuts and that i am very high on the list. fingers crossed for an admission! and congratulations and best of luck to all admits! stats so far: 1r, 1w, 4a, 1p.

American Studies, Brown University i took a one gap year after uc berkeley. my gpa is from undergrad and i did not take the gre. i was emailed about a portal update that showed the rejection. it's for the best since the one scholar whom i'd work with is close to retirement and apparently doesn't work with students from my community, even tho her research is heavily focused on them --- bad, weird sign. congratulations and best of luck to all admits tho! stats so far: 1r, 1w, 4a, 1p.
