Computer Science (CIS), University of Pennsylvania first rejection and it stings. i emailed the admissions director and they replied that they received a record number of applications and accepted 8% in the early round. good luck to all!

Data Science, University of Pennsylvania Undergrad from top IIT (India), 9+ GPA, 2 papers at moderate venues (first author, 1 under review), 2 DS internships (incl. at MNC), GRE 335 (170Q), good extracurriculars, good relation with LoR writers. Seniors with similar profiles got in in previous years, so this was moderate for me. Maybe a bad SoP/CV

Computer Science, University of Pennsylvania Engineering (non-CS) undergrad. No research experience or software engineering experience, but actively changing industries. Currently an M.S. Computer Science student at UT Austin. Best of luck to everyone!

Data Science, University of Pennsylvania Came from a STEM background with a 3.95 major GPA. Have several tier-1 conference papers (first author). Still get rejected. Perhaps my SOP/PS is too messy.

Data Science, University of Pennsylvania Undergrad ECE at UT Austin. One DS internship, several DS/ML projects & competitions. 1.5 years software engineering work exp. 3 LoRs from professors, one of whom is a Penn Alum, another very well known in EE field.
