One professor with whom I contacted emailed to notify that the admission committee accepted my application.

It appears that the Columbian College of Arts and Sciences can actually write you a rejection letter, though I suppose signing it is another matter altogether! Wow, I was under the impression that it is people who write letters, ya know, the dean and his cronies.

American Politics. "Full fellowship support" mentioned in e-mail, but no details given. Only 6% of applicants admitted.
