Not making it to the shortlist, ie, being invited for an interview, could mean you are on the “reserve list†in case shortlisted candidates fall out of the rankings. Phone them to get a sense of where you are on the list.

Political Science, University of California, Santa Cruz To UC Santa Cruz rejection. First off, I am sorry friendo. That sucks. But if I can offer some words of encouragement, I was rejected from my safety school and got into one of my top 3 choices with similar stats that you are rocking. Hang in there. It isn't over until the last letter shows up.

Political Science, Brown University Why do they make you open a decision letter that gives you hope2? Just email me saying "nah" anyways 0a/2r/0w 2 pending. Let's go CUNY and Notre Dame. Theory sub field like everyone else who wanted to work with Bonnie Honig.

Political Science, George Washington University I am in the same situation. It says that my application is under review. At the same time, I remember receiving an email on January 4 saying that my app was sent for review to the department and that it will take between 6 and 8 weeks to receive an answer, which will mean about 3-6 weeks from now. Maybe they divided the apps in multiple packs and have a number of assigned admissions per each. We can't really know. Good luck to everyone.

Political Science, UW-Madison Kind email letting me know they did not accept my application. Rejection isn't fun, but I know there's an entire cohort of incredibly deserving people who got in. Best of luck to everyone who got in! :)
