Recent Graduate Admission Results April 2013
Philosophy, The New School For Social Research / New School University 4a-10r-1w/19. I saw that I was accepted on their web site on March 20, and sent them an email to verify. They refused to answer the question via email because they 'don't give that information via email', despite my explanation that I would be going out of town to visit schools until April 15. I had to ask my mom to go to my apartment to get my mail every day rather than putting my mail on hold while out of town. Then, after all of that, they sent me an email a few days ago saying I was accepted and inviting me to the event. After dealing with this, I probably will NOT be accepting their offer. I hate mindless bureaucracy. I applied here because they claimed to be different. Yeah, right.

Philosophy, Philosophy Sent on behalf of Ted Sider, Director of Graduate Studies, Sage School of Philosophy, Cornell University Dear Applicant, I'm afraid I have some bad news: we are unable to offer you admission to Cornell. The application pool this year was incredibly competitive: 315 applications for only 6 slots. Reading through all these files, I was struck by how many smart and dedicated philosophers there are; I enjoyed reading the insightful and creative writing samples, and the often inspiring personal statements. I was saddened that we could not admit more. I know this doesn't really help, but it nevertheless seems appropriate to mention. Thank you for applying to our program.
